Why We Love Alpaca

Alpaca fiber is the sustainable, socially responsible, cruelty-free and functional alternative to the current textile market's materials. It outperforms other natural fibers in so many ways—it is light and warm, incredibly soft and hypoallergenic, making it the perfect choice for those sensitive to wool. Plus it is water-repellant, stain-repellant, flame-resistant and less susceptible to abrasion, pilling, and general wear and tear.

Processing and Production

Because alpaca fiber lacks the lanolin of sheep’s wool, it doesn’t require harsh chemicals for its removal, which makes it an ideal hypoallergenic alternative to other natural luxury fibers that may feel more itchy to the wearer. One alpaca can produce 4-5 sweaters per year, compared to cashmere goats which produce only ONE sweater every FOUR years!  Alpaca comes in 23 beautiful natural colors, and untreated alpaca fiber is completely eco-friendly and biodegradable.

Soft, Warm & Light

The softness of alpaca is related to the fineness and scale structure of the fiber—it can be as soft and fine as cashmere—sometimes even softer!

Known for its exceptional warmth, despite the lightness of the fiber itself, alpaca fiber surpasses wool in its heat retention.  Alpaca keeps you warm in the coldest of climates, while its lightweight nature keeps you cool in summer, especially when blended with other natural fibers. It’s low "prickle factor," especially compared to wool, makes it more comfortable against the skin. Alpaca also has incredible moisture-wicking capabilities which makes it an excellent fiber for socks, keeping your toes toasty warm and dry all year round!
